- Originally drafted by the Rams in the 11th round in 1945, Fears
did not join the team until 3 years later, after a stint in the Air
Force and his final 2 years at UCLA.
- When he arrived to camp in 1948, Fears was originally slated to be a defensive
player. In fact, he intercepted two passes and returned one for a
touchdown in his very first professional game.
